Barbados is tringular and flat. The highest point is Mount Hillaby, at 340 m (1,120 ft). The island is divided into eleven parishes. It enjoys a moderate tropical climate with a wet season from June to November and a dry one from December to May. The island is outside the hurricane belt, and so it is often spared the worst effects of tropical storms and hurricanes.
