Bridlington is a coastal town and resort in East Riding of Yorkshire. It lies on the Holderness Coast facing the North Sea and has a population of 34,000 people (2012 estimate).

Although it is not known when the area around Bridlington was first inhabited, based on archaeological evidence, this must have been in the Bronze Age. The discovery of Roman coins provides clues to the presence of Romans. The town appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Bretlinton.

Today Bridlington is a seaside resort. It also serves as a fishing port from where shell fish are exported to France, Spain and Italy.

Visiting Bridlington

Take the A1(M) motorway until Exit 47, then continue east on the A59 to York. From York, continue east on the A166 road to Driffield, and then the A614 continuing east till you arrive in Bridlington.
