Camping is a popular recreational activity in France. There are 11,000 official camping sites throughout the country. To find them, refer to the information provided by the Féderation Française de Camping et de Caravaning.

In France, the campsites are also graded, from one to four stars. All sites usually have toilet facilities, public phones and running water, although the three- and four-star sites tend to be more spacious and have additional amenities including electricity connection for the caravan or tent. The one- and two-star sites are more likely to be located in the more rural parts of the country, where you can enjoy the serenity and rural atmosphere.
Some sites only accept users who have a camping carnet, available from the AA, RAC and other camping clubs.
