Domatia in Greece
Domatia is the name given for rented rooms. Traditionally, this refers to rooms within a family home, very much like the British bed-and-breakfast. Nowadays, however, the domatia is more likely than not to be part of a purpose-built accommodation provider.
Domatias are usually cheaper compared to mainstream hotels. Most of the newer ones have attached bathrooms, basic furnishing, and even a kitchen for your use. Other than that, facilities can only be described as spartan. There is no communal area, as a lounge, for example, and there is also no hot water from the tap - these are available from the electric immersion heater or solar heater.
