Gosport is a town and borough on the south coast of Hampshire, England. Located on a peninsula, on the western side of Portsmouth Harbour, it has a population of some 80,000 people (2012 estimate).

Human habitation in the area around Gosport goes back to the Bronze Age. This is based on the discovery of prehistoric artifacts, including axe heads and torc, which are now stored at the Portsmouth Museum.Gosport was mentioned in the Anglo Saxon Chronicle, appearing as Rughenor. In the Domesday Book of 1086, villages such as Rowner and Alverstoke, which are today within the limits of Gosport, were listed.
Gosport's modern history is closely associated with the navy. It was a major naval and military town until the end of the 20th century. With a decline in military activities in the area, the former military installations are now opened to the public as tourist attractions and heritage sites.

From London, take the M3 motorway until Exit 14, then continue east on the M27 motorway. Leave the motorway at Junction 11, and continue on the A27 road until junction with the A32 road. Take the A32 south till you arrive in Gosport.Places of Interest in Gosport
