 How to Compare Hotel Room Rates
As accommodation forms a major portion of every traveler's budget, it is very important to know how to compare hotel room rates. Traditionally, travelers depend on travel agents to act as middle-man in finding hotel rooms. Most travelers use only one travel agent and either accept or reject the room rate offered.
Today, with the Internet, travelers can make their own room reservations, bypassing the need (and cost) of using a travel agent. However, how do you ensure that the online booking website that you use is giving you the lowest rate for the room you want? The tedious way is to visit all the major online booking sites, compare and jot down the prices offered. This will be very time consuming if you are visiting several destinations on a trip.

Step One: Find Hotel Deals

Both are the same. To use it, just furnish the information on the city you are visiting, your check-in/check-out details, guest and rooming details. In the above samples, let's say you are visiting New York City from 15 May to 18 May, there are two persons needing one room. Click Search after furnishing the details.
Step Two: Search Results
The search engine goes to work looking for the best prices from all the major booking sites. It then provides a Search Result showing you the best estimated price for different hotel rooms. Select the hotel of your choice. For this example, let's select Intercontinental Hotel The Barclay New ...
Step Three: Choose Online Booking Site
Here's where you start saving money: the engine shows you the price for your hotel room, as provided by different booking sites. You select the booking site that offers the lowest rate, inclusive of taxes & fees.
Step Four: Visit the Online Booking Site
The engine lists all the popular online booking sites and the rate they offer. As no booking site consistently offer the lowest rate, doing this exercise helps you find the best rate each time, anywhere in the world.
