Inverness (map) is a city in the Scottish Highlands. It is the site of the 18th century Battle of Culloden. Today Inverness has a population of around 54,000, but is expected to grow by 40% in the next two decades, making it one of the fastest growing cities in Europe.

Inverness lies at the mouth of the River Ness. It experiences an Oceanic climate with one of the coldest winter weathers of all cities in the United Kingdom. Temperature can reach a height of 29°C in summer but goes down to as low as -17°C in winter. Heaviest rainfall is in the months of October to December, averaging 84 mm or more. Driest months are April to June.

Inverness Airport is located between Nairn and Inverness. Among the airlines flying there includes Easyjet, FlyBE (code sharing with British Airways), Aer Aran, Ryanair and Highland Airways. By Road
You can reach Inverness by taking the A9 motorway from the south, or the A96 from Aberdeen.

By Train
There are direct train services connecting Inverness with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and London.
