Land's End is the extreme westerly point on mainland England. It is a small headland jutting into the Celtic Sea in west Cornwall, England. The site is famous for its rugged beauty and is a favorite among photography enthusiasts, particularly during sunsets and sunrise. Land's End is near the village of Sennen. The nearest town of any significance is Penzance, about 13 km (8 miles) away.

Being on the extreme westerly part of England, Land's End is often used to denote the farthest away part of the country. Geographically, Land's End comprises jugged cliffs battered by the surf. There are offshore rocky outcrops extending beyond Land's End. These are collectively known as the Longships. Even further away are the Isles of Scilly.

Visiting Land's End

Coming from Manchester, take the M5 motorway till Exeter, then continue on the A30 road until its very end, at Sennen. Continue the rest of the way on country lane to reach Land's End. The road becomes one way as you approach the Land's End Visitor Centre.

Admission to Land's End is free. There is however a parking fee of £3.00 per car. If you get hungry after your clambering about, there's the Land's End Restaurant to refill before your journey back. For more details, visit www.landsend-landmark.co.uk. Note that the www.landsend.co.uk is for a clothing company (which of course could not resist having an outlet at Land's End itself).
