Ocho Rios is a town on the northern coast of Jamaica, within the parish of Saint Ann. It is believed to be the first site that Christopher Columbus set foot in Jamaica. The name means "eight rivers" in Spanish, an incorrect description since there aren't eight rivers in the area.

More on Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios is one of the tourist destinations in Jamaica. Most of the tourists descending on it disembark directly from passing cruise ships. When these massive ocean liners arrive, they tend to overshadow the otherwise little town. Deriving most of its income today from tourism, Ocho Rios rises to welcome visitors by lining up attractions within walking distance from the port.

The Main Street of Ocho Rio is lined with souvenir shops and restaurant. This is also where you can find a concentration of attractions.

Visiting Ocho Rios

Most visitors come by cruise ships, but if necessary, you can take a van from Kingston and Montego Bay.
