The Oundle area has been inhabited since the Iron Age, and in the medieval period was a site of a farmers' market. The market is still being held today at Market Place every second Saturday of the month. The trades in the area made it prosperous. Oundle was one of the few towns which managed to avoide the Black Death in the 14th century.

Today Oundle is a charming town with many old, well-preserved buildings.

Take the A1(M) motorway to Junction 17, then continue west on the A605 road to reach Oundle.
