Paradise Island is a resort island off the shore of Nassau in the Bahamas. Originally known as Hog Island, it was renamed after the Second World War, when Swedish entrepreneur Axel Wenner-Gren began to develop it. Today it has become the main resort destination in Nassau, Bahamas.

Paradise Island got its present name when it was bought by Huntington Hartford in 1959. He built some of the first hotels, golf course and other tourist amenities on the island. He also brought and installed on Paradise Islands Cloisters, a 14th century French Augustinian monastery which he had dismantled, shipped and reassembled on Paradise Island.
Paradise Island was bought by Donald Trump in the 1980s for $79 million. He sold it to Merv Griffin for $400 million. The island, now owned by Sol Kerzner, is worth some US$2 billion.
Visiting Paradise Island
There are two bridges linking Paradise Island to Nassau across Nassau Harbour. The first was built in 1966 while the second in the late 1990s.
