Ribeauvillé (German: Rappoltsweier, Alsation: Rappschwihr; map) is a French village in the Alsace region, in eastern France. It is in Alsace's wine region, and is famous for its Riesling sparkling white wines. The town is also renowned for its almond-flavored cakes, called Kougelhopf.

Ribeauvillé covers 32.21 sq km (12.44 sq mi) and has a population of 5,100 people (2011 estimate). The village dates back to the 8th century, when it was called Rathaldovilare.

Ribeauvillé has managed to preserve much of its village center, which is simply gorgeous. The village is lined with tortuous alleys that wind their way past medieval houses and Renaissance fountains.

Among the famous sights in Ribeauvillé are the churches to St. Gregory and St. Augustine. Towering in the hills above the village are three castles, namely Saint-Ulrich, Girsberg and Haut-Ribeaupierre.

From the E25 (N83) expressway, take Exit 20 (Bergheim, Marckolsheim, Illhaeusern, Guémar). Then head west on D106, follow the sign for Ribeauvillé.
