Spa is a town in the Province of Liège, Walloon Region, Belgium. Covering 39.85 sq km (15 sq mi), it has a population of around 11,500 people (2012 estimate). Spa is situated in a valley in the Ardennes mountains.

Spa is the town that gave its name to spa towns around the world. This comes about from its hot springs with healing properties. The therapeutic waters of Spa was known since the 14th century.

The town of Spa is remembered during the First World War as the site where the German Army stationed their headquarters. In 1918 they marched from here to the French lines and sued for peace. This led to the Armistice, bringing an end to the war.

Today Spa is a modern town still renowned for its position as a healing resort. The town hosts the annual Formula One Belgian Grand Prix. In fiction, Spa is the birthplace of Agatha Christie's hero, Hercule Poirot.
