More on St Neots

St Neots was named after a 9th century Cornich monk whose relics were stolen from the village of St Neot in Cornwall, by Norman monks, spirited across the country in hot pursuit by angry Cornishmen. The monks arrived back safely in Cambridgeshire, and installed the relics at the St Neot's Priory, on the site that now takes the same name.

The relics of St Neot remained in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, until the 16th century, when the priory was disbanded under King Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries.
