Staffordshire is a landlocked ceremonial county of England in the West Midlands region. It covers 2,713 sq km (1,047 sq mi) and has a population of slightly over a million people (2011 estimate). The county town is Stafford while the largest city is Stoke-on-Trent, which is administered separately from the rest of Staffordshire.

Staffordshire is divided into eight districts namely Cannock Chase, East Staffordshire, Lichfield, Newcastle-under-Lyme, South Staffordshire, Stafford, Staffordshire Moorlands and Tamworth. The county is hilly on the northern and southern edges, with moorlands in the far north. The village of Flash, on the northern part of Staffordshire is the highest village in the country, at 463 m (1,518 ft) above sea level. The middle section of Staffordshire is low with undulating terrain.

Visiting Staffordshire

There are buses from major cities in Britain to Stoke-on-Trent. The city is on the A-500 road, off the M6 Motorway. From Stoke-on-Trent you can continue to all the towns in Staffordshire.

You can also take the train from the London Euston station to Stoke-on-Trent. The fastest train takes just over one and a half hours to reach the city.
